"F" is for Floors

The floors have been a pain in the ass. Simply said. I'm not feeling too excited about writing this post because just thinking about the hours we've spent on these floors kind of sickens me. On the other hand, it was the only project that Katie was able to help with because she likes to pick, scrape, clean, etc.

The entire house was carpeted except for the kitchen and bath. Below the carpet was laminate floors and below the laminate is hardwood floors.

We scraped off this layer of green laminate flooring. Many parts of the floor were difficult to get off while some pieces pealed right off. We ended up using a heat gun to melt down the material which then allowed us to scrape it off.

These two photos are in the loft upstairs. The loft is directly above the master bedroom and the original kitchen (which is directly perpendicular with the master bedroom). The floor joists had to be reset since they were sinking into the ceiling.
